Waxing…are you scared?

Pros…Cons…Emotions…

Do you get waxed? Are you scared to get waxed? Have you had a bad experience with wax? Talk to me!

I don’t know about you, but if I shave I get terrible razor burn and ingrown hair so bad I do not want to move. So when I got into the beauty industry I started waxing regularly. I am not going to lie to you it is definitely painful; but NO where as uncomfortable as shaving. I am going to go over a few tips on how to keep your wax as comfortable as possible!

First off, find a salon/wax artist whom you feel comfortable with. Let’s be real they are going to see it all. You need to feel comfortable asking questions and explaining issues you may be having. Second, you. need to make sure the salon you go to uses hard wax & soft wax; each one treats different skin types. Also, your artists’ waxes should be rated for sensitive skin and no fragrances. Do not be afraid to ask. Make sure your artist is educating you on before care, after care & products to use.

Ok, now you have found your salon & artist; lets talk about the care and when to get waxed to eliminate as much pain and discomfort as possible.

Waxing Prep

* Allow hair to have 2-3 weeks of growth for your wax appointment

* Gently exfoliate with a body scrub (never use sea salt), dry brush, or mitt 24 hrs before appt.

* Make sure you have clean, freshly washed skin. Oily skin can prevent the wax from adhering, leaving behind some stray hairs.

Waxing Aftercare

* Avoid gyms, saunas, steam rooms, & sun beds, & sex 24 hrs after waxing

* 3 Days after treatment gently exfoliate to remove dead skin and prevent ingrown hairs

* Follow up with a rich, nourishing moisturizer

* Don’t forget to book your next appointment. Regular waxing means hair becomes less dense, resulting in less discomfort. (minimum 3-4 weeks between waxes)
